Burmese Muslims Slaughter

The total population of Burma is around 80 million of which almost 0.7 million people are Muslims. The old name of Burma is Myanmar. The greatest percentage of the Burmese Muslims live in Arakan province in Burma. Great difficulties are thereby faced by the Burmese Muslims. This has continued since the year 1962. This was the year when the army took over the governmental control of Burma. The current killing of the Burmese Muslims is also based on the same fact. Current slaughter of the Muslims in Burma is based on the fact of the killings started by the military in Burma. On the 9th of February, more than 20 Rohingya Muslims were killed. On the 3rd of June, more than 11 Muslims were brutally slaughtered by the Burmese military as well as the Buddhist mobs after these Muslims were asked to come down from a bus.

Based on these killings, protests were carried out in the Burmese province of Arakan. But, these Protestants were victims of the shelling and firing initiated by the army. Based on these sailings, most of the Muslims tried to evade the country from the border of Bangladesh, but these Muslims were stopped forcefully by the army. As the border of Bangladesh was chosen by these Muslims for leaving Burma, no support was provided by the Bangladesh’s government. Most of the refugees who have managed to escape in Bangladesh are living in cramped tents.

These killings have slowly increased since a number of years. Many villages, almost 500 villages of the Muslims in Burma have been incinerated. As many as thousands of Muslims have been killed or exterminated. These days, the killing has accelerated. These killings are mostly based on the planning of the Buddhist mobs. The question is what has accelerated these killings and what are the main strategies that can reduce these killings. How international organizations can play roles in reducing these killings and assaults.

Still, no steps have been taken by the security organization, UN or any other humanitarian organizations. Based on the rate of these killings, this can be called as genocide. This situation in the modern days is not unknown. The hostility of the same level was faced by the Burmese Muslims in the past as well. If the history is revisited, it can be seen that Muslims have always been on the hard side and thus kind of violence is always faced by the Muslims. In order to save these Muslims, it is important that the international communities should come into action and take steps to stop the brutal killing of Muslims in Burma. A great deal of human attention is needed by the Burmese Muslims and by the international humanitarian organizations so that the reasons of the killings can be sorted out, making sure that the killings and assaults being faced by the Burmese Muslims stop and do not continue for longer.
