Importance of Education in Islam for Muslim Students

Education plays a very important and vital role in a person’s life. In Islam, education has been given a lot of significance as it teaches us to learn and gain knowledge so that we come to realize the facts about the creation of the entire universe and the logic behind everything, which is off course the system levied by Allah almighty. According to a Hadith, the Holy Prophet said that a person should gain knowledge from his birth till death. Even at one instance, after a war the Muslims captured enemy prisoners. The Holy Prophet announced that the prisoner who would teach at least ten Muslims would be freed.

Muslim students have a dual benefit. They are students in the normal study of life as well as of the religion that is whole. This way a Muslim learns much more as compared to any other person. He is taught about the different aspects of life, religion and obligations of religion from the very initial stage of childhood so that as he grows, he must get used to do good deeds and gain success in every field of life.

Other than the scientific study and literature subjects, a Muslim is also taught how to eat, dress, talk, behave, deal with others and remain truthful. Only by getting fine education, a person can realize and differentiate between what is right and what is wrong. Allah has provided humans with the mind that can think both the ways, now it is up to us to gain education so that we know how to walk on the right path by avoiding the wrong intentions induced in our minds by Shaitan (Satan).

When Allah created Adam, He asked the angles to bow before him as he was higher in rank with respect to knowledge and education. It was than, when Satan refused to do so and he was denied from the angles and thrown away. Satan then decided to lead man away form the path of righteousness till the Day of Judgment. In this regard it is an obvious duty of each and every Muslim student to realize that Allah has given him a status above that of the angels and he has to prove himself as the true follower and believer of his Creator.

We learn so that we can grow up to be wise and intelligent enough and earn our people, nation and religion a good reputation. So is the case for Muslim students as they are the future of the Islamic religion and the Muslims all over the world. Each younger generation has a burden on its shoulders to do the best in order to improve the current conditions. In Islam, education is not just what we gain in schools and colleges but anything that we learn new is classified as education. Therefore for Muslims, the journey of learning continues throughout the life no matter what age they are in, As long as they are living they are learning a new thing each day.
