MUHAMMAD ASIF: NEW WORLD SNOOKER CHAMPION

abaneer01

We have always heard that hard work pays off. If you have sheer determination, you are gutsy, and you can turn anything your way, then you will rule. This article is to extol the efforts of a great individual who worked really hard, and who told the entire world that good coaches and facilities are not imperative. What actually is essential is your hard work, passion and determination towards a game. A man who runs a snooker club in Faisalabad, Pakistan and has got no sponsors and no facilities has recently won the world snooker championship league. His love for snooker is what pulled him and today he is a proud champion. He worked really hard and finally he is getting rewarded. Muhammad Asif made not only his family and country proud, but he is an epitome for all those people who want to do a lot of things in life, but they haven’t got resources to do them. He has given them a profound message that hard work and self belief can take you to the top.
The tournament started in Sofia, Bulgaria and it was a good start for Muhammad Asif. He was quite dominant from the start and won all his matches comfortably. He was playing his natural game and won his matches against all good players. He defeated Mer Alkojah of Syria 6-2 in the quarter-finals with the frame scores of 55-53, 50-63, 41-72, 78-50, 73-36, 99-26, 64-54, 82-40. He advanced to the quarter finals by defeating Wael Talaat of Egypt 5-2 in the pre-quarters. He continued his sublime performance and defeated lex Borg of Malta by 7-1 to reach the final to become the first Pakistani player to play the world cup final since 2003. He won the final, which was a nail baiting match and both the players were up for the occasion, but Asif played incredibly and won the snooker final. It is a huge win not only for Muhammad Asif, but for his country as well, where snooker is not that popular, and this win will definitely attract people to play and promote the sport.
I congratulate Muhammad Asif for making our country proud. The government should look toward all the sports equally and should make snooker training clubs, where qualified coaches can polish raw talent, and Pakistan can win many such championships. We should encourage all the people who are participating in various sports all around the globe, as our encouragement can make them perform better. Muhammad Asif has achieved a big feat and many players will continue doing that if our government will sponsor them, encourage them by all means and if we support them wholeheartedly.

I do not want to congratulate Pakistan for this at all.Sorry people for my words. Its a win by an individual. Pakistan do not give him coach/Manager any training except Tour Expenses. Come on man why congratulates them.Lets open there eyes. Its Asif victory there and really he is crafty with that Stick.

    • http://www.facebook.com/shoaib.ali.790 Shoaib Ali

I totally respect your view point and agree with you till the point that our government offered him no coaches and facilities, yet the first thing Asif said after winning is that “this win is just because of the prayers of my nation”.. we have flaws I agree, but its a victory for the country… we have regained this title after 18 years and he was representing Pakistan…

          • ISABEL

World Cup?Who win the T20 worldCup before Windies? When analyzing a team whole stats counts.Southafrica never did good in big tournaments so they are bad?
ICE hockey is more famous than your field hockey.
Field hockey dutch, aussies and german reigns.

          • http://www.facebook.com/shoaib.ali.790 Shoaib Ali

I was talking about 50 over World Cup :) and now sadly you dont have any answer for that. secondly, yes I agree, although we were the hockey Champions in the past, now we are lacking behind.

          • ISABEL

50 World Cups of which Game?
Cricket or hockey.cricket have 10 and hockey have 12.

          • http://www.facebook.com/shoaib.ali.790 Shoaib Ali

kindly read the comment properly. I said 50 “over” world Cup, so its cricket.. :)

          • ISABEL

Sorry in case you mind my words. If there is some one else in your place he will have the same words.

be polite shoaib… let’s enlighten her…. snooker is derived from billiards. it was played by great kings. and the officers of the british army played and liked it as well…. keeping in mind what you said eliza, It’s a sport from the west and a PAKISTANI WON THE CHAMPIONSHIP… so dont try and underestimate us.

          • http://www.facebook.com/shoaib.ali.790 Shoaib Ali

hopefully she got it now that Snooker is not a Pakistani game :)

          • http://www.facebook.com/eliza.turner.71 Eliza Turner
