Ramadan Kareem is considered to be the most important month for all the Muslims. It is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. In this holy month Quran Shareef was sent down to the earth. Muslims are required to take fast during the whole month and this fast start from dawn and ends after the sunset. During the fast Muslims are prohibited from eating food and drinking. Fast is not only necessary for the Muslims but a mandatory for all Muslims.
Allah has ordered Muslims to keep fasting so, It means that fasting is essential for all the nations before the Quran. The most important example is that we can see Christians also celebrate Easter in which they fast the whole month but the procedure is different.
Fast is compulsory for all the Muslims except those who are ill or those who are on the journey but it is said that they must fast a similar number of days later on. In this month Muslims worship Allah and we can say that this is the month in which Allah is going to train Muslims so that they can act in a similar way the whole year. After Ramadan Muslims celebrate Eid, Eid is like the gift of Allah for all the Muslims who fast and worship in the month of Ramadan.
In Ramadan, we have three Ashras. First 10 fasts come under Ashra-e-Rehmat. In this Ashra, we thank Allah for all the things that He gave us. There are a thousand reasons to thank Him because no other except Allah can give such blessings to human being. Second 10 fasts come under Ashra-e-Maghfirat. In this Ashr’a we ask forgiveness for all the sins we did voluntary or involuntary. We do uncountable sins everyday and it is the only Allah Who can forgive us. Third 10 fasts come under Ashra-e-Nijat from Jahanum. In Islam it is said that those people who does not act on the instructions of Allah, would be sent in hell. So we Muslims ask Allah to save us from the fire of hell. In this Ashra we have the nights called Laila tul Qadar. These nights have so much value, we pray in these nights and ask for forgiveness. Zakat is also an important part of Ramadan. Those Muslims who have prescribed amount of money are said to give zakat of their wealth to those poor Muslims, who don’t have much resources.
Fast teaches us that we should think and carefully for our Islamic brothers who don’t have even food to eat and dress to wear. It teaches us the lesson of equality and sacrifice. When we fast during the whole day then we can feel the pain of those poor people who hardly get one time food after a long struggle. In this month we pray Allah and ask for forgiveness for all the sins and for all the bad deeds we did. We also promise Allah not to do this again. This holy month totally changes the life of the Muslims. If we could act the similar way whole life as we do in Ramadan then we would be in the list of those peoples who are very close to Allah and Allah will give them the gift of Jannat on Roz-e-Hashr.
