Islam has lain considerable emphasize on education as it was the first step of civilizing the illiterate people of Arab when Islam was freshly revealed. The Prophet Mohammad always cared and appreciated for teachers. The Significance of a Muslim teacher can be realized from the fact that the Holy Prophet was himself a teacher who taught mankind about the right and wrong, and the religion that defined the Existence and oneness of God.
Once the Prophet was passing by to gatherings, one was a group of people listening to their teacher while the other was praying before Allah. The Prophet joined the group where people were listening to the teacher, as he said that he was also sent as teacher.
Students acquire good trails, virtuous behavior, sound trends and equanimity from heir teachers. When a baby is born he does not even know how to move his mouth to create a sound and ask for food. Everything needs to be taught and this is where a teacher plays a vital role. The guidance needed by students to lead their lives in the right way and achieve success is provided by teachers. Although the parents play a critical role in the education of a child, yet what teacher can teach cannot be taught by parents in home.
A Muslim teacher is a highly responsible and valued person in Islam. It is his duty to make reforms in the students and guide them from every aspect to lead a respectable, healthy, happy, successful and meaningful life. Teachers also enjoy abundant rights as they are the source of guidance and perfection for the students. In Islam a teacher is ranked equal to a father in respect to rights. One of the companions of the Holy Prophet stated that whoever taught him even a single word, was his teacher. What more can be said in favor of the value and importance of the teachers in Islam.
In the entire Muslim history, teachers have distinguished themselves as firm support to the entire Muslim Ummah by doing their best to teach Muslim students the ways to lead a prosperous life. No civilization can rise from mere ideas and concepts but a firm shape in the practical behavior is required by each person in the civilization that acts as a vital element in the development of the nation as civilized people. This is where teachers play their role to educate about what people don’t know.
A Muslim Teacher similarly is responsible for teaching students about the facts of the religions along with the appropriation of behavior and principles. Islam provides a complete manual and code of life which is not easily understandable and adoptable by the students, therefore teachers help and teach the students effectively to make sure that they grow up to be wise men and women and contribute towards the prosperity, growth and spread of Islam. The world would only become a better place when the most of the elements and people are aware of the virtuous and right teachings of Islam.
