Hazrat Usman belonged to the noble family of Quraish. He was the third Caliph of Islam. He was famous due to his generosity. Hazrat Uthman ibn Affan (may ALLAH be pleased with him) was born in Makah in 573 A.D. He was the son of “Affan bin Abul-as” . Usman (R.A) was more educated of that time when the literacy rate was very less in Makah. He started business of clothing in start time and became rich. He spent more money in the way of ALLAH and also on human beings and their public before caliphate and after caliphate season.
Uthman ibn Affan (may ALLAH be pleased with him) accepted Islam in the early days. When he accepted Islam than his well wishers became his enemy. When life became difficult in Makah then Uthman ibn Affan went to Holy prophet (peace be upon him) and sought permission for migration. He got permission and he migrated to Madina with his wife (that was the daughter of the Prophet (PBUH) named “Hazrat Ruqaya”) and other relatives. He was first Muslim who migrated to hudebiya.
He could not participate in Ghawa Badr because his wife was very ill. His wife died During the Badr Battle. After some time he married to the Holy Prophet‘s (peace be upon him) another daughter “Umm Kulthum”. After he got the title”Dhun Naurain” means the man with two lights. He served almost all the battles along with the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him).
Hazrat Usman’s life was so simple. He served his public in a nice and efficient manner. There are lots of examples are there to show his generosity. One incident is as follows:
“When the number of Muslims increased in Madina then people could not accommodate in The Mosque (Masjid Nabvi). This was serious condition. At that time Uthman ibn Affan (R.A) responded to the Prophet (PBUH) and bought land for the extension of the Masjid. This was not the single incident of generosity, his whole life was the masterpiece of simplicity, Generosity, intelligence etc.
During Caliphate of Hazrat Usman Muslims conquered many areas. They took over Antalya, Samara land, Tabrastan etc. When he became caliph he spent very simple life. He helped the needy people. He brought his money and goods for spending in Ghazwat when a less amount of goods were available for battles. First half of his caliphate was peaceful and Muslims conquered lots of times.
Many Quraish families were against of Usman (R.A) leadership. During his reign expansion of Islam flowed more in other countries like China, America, Srilanka etc. Many reforms about economic, Administration matters etc. developed in well manner during his leadership.
But later part he was faced by civil war which led to his death. Many Muslims betrayed from the right path. Non-Muslims betrayed the innocent Muslims to wrong path then honest warriors became less and Usman Caliphate became less secure, this matter led to his death.
Hazrat Uthman ibn Affan (may ALLAH be pleased with him) was a great person and leader. We should follow his life style, teachings etc.
